During the 3 days 2 nights event that took place in Golden Sands Penang, journalists around the country gathered to attend workshops by industry experts and brainstormed solutions to issues faced in the field of electoral and political reporting. Here's what they've got to say about their experience.
On 24 - 26 March 2022, journalists will gather in Penang for the second installation of TechCamp Malaysia. The workshop aims to equip journalists with the right digital tools, gain advanced knowledge and skills such as fact-checking and information verification in newsrooms to counter disinformation. Journalists will be empowered to pursue journalism as a public good and produce higher-quality content in relation to political and electoral reporting.
TechCamp Malaysia aims to train and motivate journalists to produce data-driven, non-biased reporting to counter false narratives. TechCamp Malaysia also aims to inspire social media, community, and government influencers with the tools to inculcate media literacy skills among the wider public.
TechCamp Malaysia 2020, organized by Penang Institute and supported by the U.S. Embassy, will bring together participants from 6 different countries, consisting of emerging journalists; social media, community and government influencers; as well as members of the tech and programming community to engage with trainers on digital technology capacity building.
