Grant Application is Open!

 

Penang Institute, in partnership with U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur, is pleased to announce a call for “TechCamp Malaysia 2022: Smart Journalism, Healthy Democracy” small grant proposals. The goal of TechCamp Malaysia 2022 is to build journalists’ capacity to apply digital strategies and tools that will 1) enhance the quality of their reporting, 2) increase public media literacy and 3) reduce the reach and impact of disinformation to foster a stronger and healthier democracy. This is an opportunity for you to move the ideas and initiatives you have developed during TechCamp Malaysia into action. It is also an avenue to increase your collaborative efforts in countering disinformation in Malaysia. You will find the application guidelines below in which two award categories are available for submission.

 

The application deadline is Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. Kuala Lumpur time.

 

Eligibility

  • The application is open to all participants and trainers who attended TechCamp Malaysia on March 24-26, 2022
  • Applicants are highly encouraged to work on projects in collaboration with at least one other participant and/or trainer who attended TechCamp Malaysia. Only one application is needed per project team
  • Individual applications will also be considered. However, collaborative projects are preferred.
