Penang Institute and U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur invite emerging and mid-career journalists to apply for TechCamp Malaysia 2022: Smart Journalism, Healthy Democracy. This year, the program aims to build the capacity of journalists in applying digital investigative skills and using data tools to counter disinformation and produce quality content, particularly in the area of political and electoral reporting in Malaysia.
Participants will undergo training by industry experts, work with trainers to develop and apply sustainable technology solutions, and utilize TechCamp’s follow-on funds to move their ideas into action.

TechCamp 2020
TechCamp Malaysia was held to train and equip journalists as well as social media, community, and government influencers with the tools to inculcate media literacy skills among the wider public. Throughout the two-week virtual program, participants worked with technologists and international experts to develop tech-based solutions to the misinformation challenges at hand.
